Based in Brussels and active in over a dozen countries, the European Institute of Peace (www.eip.org) is an independent organisation working collaboratively with the parties to the conflict, those who represent people suffering from insecurity or at risk of violence, as well as European decision-makers and the conflict prevention, resolution and mediation community.
We provide practical experience, technical expertise, and policy advice on conflict resolution. We use a variety of tools to help us do this, including analysis, mapping and design of peace processes and agreements, facilitating policy discussions, and proposing practical engagement, for example through inclusive dialogue and mediation support.

We are looking for a Senior Advisor for Political Economy to provide strategic analysis and advisory support across the Institute’s regional programmes.
You will
- Work with select regional teams on analysis of the political economy of the respective conflicts, and the entry points political economy provides for conflict resolution.
- Contribute to the development the regional programmes strategic frameworks through the development of ideas and opportunities for EIP engagement.
- Support the preparation of concept notes, proposals, reports, and other relevant documentation .
- Participate in or lead strategic discussions, briefings, partner and stakeholder engagement, etc., relevant to the topic.
- Work with teams on the integration of political economy into their ongoing projects, conduct quality assurance as per expertise areas, and lead on activities in the programmatic work plans relevant to the topic.

Your skills and experience
- Master’s degree in political or social sciences, economics, international development, or equivalent work experience. A PhD is desired.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience within the fields of political economy and/or conflict resolution.
- Proven contributions to peace and dialogue processes in the context of conflict resolution.
- Proven in-depth knowledge of political economy and private sector engagement in conflict-affected settings (including corporate social responsibility, confidence-building measures, transitions from illicit to licit economies, etc.) in support of conflict resolution.
- Wide-ranging networks and/or ability to engage relevant national and international stakeholders in conflict-affected settings.
- Proven record of conducting high-quality research and translating findings into capacity building initiatives and practical project implementation.
- Proven ability to produce structured, detailed and concise reports that adhere to specified guidelines and timelines.
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
What we are offering
Consultancy contract from June until December 2026.
