Based in Brussels and active in over a dozen countries, the European Institute of Peace (www.eip.org) is an independent organisation working collaboratively with the parties to the conflict, those who represent people suffering from insecurity or at risk of violence, as well as European decision-makers and the conflict prevention, resolution and mediation community.
We provide practical experience, technical expertise, and policy advice on conflict resolution. We use a variety of tools to help us do this, including analysis, mapping and design of peace processes and agreements, facilitating policy discussions, and proposing practical engagement, for example through inclusive dialogue and mediation support.

We are looking for a Fundraising and Strategic Communications Advisor (Service contract) to support the Institute’s fundraising and strategic communication efforts towards key donor audiences with core messages as set out in the upcoming Strategic Direction 2026-28.
You will
- Identify and open doors with new donors, in particular the private sector/foundations, helping the Institute build a strong case about the value of our work and about the strategic relevance and impact of institutional and flexible funding.
- Help the Institute expand the partnership with the King Baudoin Foundation, in particular supporting the creation of a network of High Net-Worth individuals.
- Propose cost effective ways to strengthen fundraising and communications activities including through events, discreet and public; use of policy papers, notes or articles through the website, social and mainstream media, etc.
- As opportunities arise, advise on more strategic approaches to fundraising and communication by senior management and programme staff.
Your skills and experience
- Minimum 10 years of proven success in fundraising, partnership building and strategic communication, in particular in order to attract new donors in the private sector;
- A track record in cultivating and maintaining donor relationships in particular Trusts and Foundations and High Net-Worth Individuals
- Understanding of the nature of the work of the Institute, of the changing environment and how that affects willingness to support us;
- Ability to provide succinct strategic advice to the Executive Director and the Senior Management Team and to work with and support Programme Managers as specific opportunities are created or arise.
What we are offering
Consultancy contract with an average of 5 days per month until 31/12/2026. Renewable based on evaluation of results and available funding.
